Editorial note:

The architecture is grounded in a palette of thatch, timber, exposed brick and stone. Large round timber members form the primary structure, while smaller members come together to create the triangular trusses and diagonal bracing of the steeply pitched roof. Left exposed throughout the interior, the structure becomes part of the architecture rather than something concealed above it.

The different textures of the natural materials give the building a warm, tactile quality. Together, they make the relationship between material, structure and craft clear, allowing the way the building is put together to become part of its character.
